Michael Wiles is known in his Sacramento community as many things. Mostly, he is known as a theater geek with decades of experience who has worked in hundreds of theater companies scattered around the West Coast, Idaho, and Montana. Since he moved to Northern California, he has worked as a casting director for various theater companies, an occupation that he says is his dream job.
Wiles is also known as an avid baseball fan. Since Michael Wiles was a boy growing up in Montana’s state capital, Helena, he has been drawn to the game. His favorite sports team growing up was the Helena Brewers. Although he never got to root for a Major League Baseball team in his hometown, his time in the Bay Area of Northern California turned him into a San Francisco Giants and Oakland A’s fan. After he moved to Sacramento, where he currently resides, he has refocused his attention on the minor leagues. He loves to go to Sacramento River Cats games during the spring and summer.
As with many baseball fans, Michael Wiles grew to love baseball by going to the park with his father. He has always loved the atmosphere of a baseball stadium. Hearing the food and beer vendors, yelling at the umpires from the nosebleeds, and trying to catch foul balls has always stood in his mind as some of the best times he has had as a kid. Those good feelings continue today. Wiles says that he likes to watch baseball on television of course, but going to the games is still special.
