Michael Wiles is an experienced actor, musical director, vocal coach, and casting director living and working in Sacramento, California. He first came to northern California in 1999 after graduating from the Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle where he earned a BFA in Acting in 1997. He worked for two years in Seattle, trying to cut his teeth with experienced directors and actors there before he decided to move south to expand his career. He began working full-time as an actor in 2000 in San Francisco. He landed many Shakespearian roles, which was a dream come true for him, having been a fan of the Bard since high school. Wiles became known for his excellent performances and soon began taking leadership roles behind the scenes in addition to acting.
Michael Wiles has wanted to be an actor since as long as he can remember. He was always mesmerized by television and movie actors since he was a young child. Over time, he built up enough experience in school developing the ability to memorize lines and truly give himself over to another identity for a performance. Wiles struggled with stage fright for many years and he still gets the pre-performance jitters every now and then, but what made the difference for him and his career was the development of his ability to handle the pressure with constant preparation and focus when he’s on the stage.
Michael Wiles also knew that he needed connections to be a successful actor. Over the years he developed many working relationships with other actors, directors, casting directors, and other who afforded him the opportunity to take leadership roles in some performances. He now works as the musical and casting director for a local theater company. Wiles is also a vocal coach, helping to develop musical and singing talent in many young would-be performers in northern California and beyond.
